General Safety Tips

November 26th, 2014 · 1 Comment

The first priority for any and all companies is their employees’ safety. Most times, employees are informed of safety guidelines during orientation. It is important that everyone understands and complies with these guidelines at all times. Safety is everyone’s responsibility!

Here are some general tips to keep in mind:
*Wear your Personal Protective Safety Equipment at all times! You may look silly, but hey – it’s part of the job and everyone else is wearing it too!
*Keep your work area neat and clean. Your mother doesn’t work here and no one wants to be tripping over your mess.
*Report all injuries or illnesses. If something happens or you all of a sudden don’t feel well, tell your supervisor right away so the situation doesn’t get any worse!
*Always follow directions. This may seem like a no-brainer, but avoid shortcuts. Do your job the way you were instructed. If you have suggestions for improving the process, talk to your supervisors. Don’t just go ahead and march to the beat of your own drum. There usually is a reason why they ask you to do your job a particular way. And remember, they’ve been doing it a lot longer than you have.
*If you haven’t been trained on how to use a piece of equipment, DON’T USE IT. It may seem simple enough, but there are procedures that must be followed with most machinery to avoid any/all injures. Talk to your supervisor about training prior to using equipment.
*Always be aware of your surroundings. In other words, pay attention to the things going on around you. Some jobs can be monotonous and day dreaming happens. You need to stay alert and focus on what you’re doing.
*Use common sense. If you are lifting something heavy, ask for assistance. Don’t walk in front of a fork-lift. Don’t put your fingers or any other objects into running machinery. Use your brain and stay safe!

There are many safety guidelines to take into consideration depending on your environment. Be sure you are aware of these guidelines at all times. If you have questions, ask your supervisor or HR department – or call us. We are safety experts!

Good luck!
