Social Media – Facebook

Social media can be very intimidating to some people, and to others, it’s like a second nature.  In today’s world, it is very important to not only have a presence in the major social media players – but to be an active participant as well.

Did you know that according to, there are nearly 1.4 billion Facebook users?  Wow!  That is a lot of potential candidates!  What a great place to talk about your business and job openings!

If you haven’t already created a page for your business, you really need to.  Facebook makes it super easy by offering step-by-step instructions (   Once your page is set-up, they will even walk you through reaching a specific group of people, advertising and monitoring results.

So what do you post?  Everything and anything to promote your company or brand!  Talk about your company’s history or how you got started, promote a new product or service, post something about your company’s involvement in a local event or highlight an employee who did something great.  Facebook is about giving your company a human pulse so people “like” you and want to do business with you – and work for you!

In addition to posting interesting reads, be sure to engage visitors.  Post questions and respond to the comments you receive.  Ask people to upload pictures using your products, saying why they like you over your competition.  Or if you offer a particular service – like pizza delivery, ask people to share pictures of themselves with someone who provided outstanding service.

Once you build an online reputation, applicants will come!  Post your openings with a link to your web page for more information about the job and encourage people to “share”!
